Everything You Want to Know About Reiki
If you've been curious about Reiki but aren't quite sure what it is or what to expect, you're in the right place. Consider this your gentle introduction.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy practice that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, developed by Mikao Usui. The word itself comes from two Japanese words: rei, meaning universal, and ki, meaning life force energy. Together they speak to something most of us instinctively understand: that there is an energy within and around us that influences how we feel, how we function, and how connected we are to ourselves.
When that energy becomes blocked or imbalanced, through stress, anxiety, illness, or simply the pace of modern life, we can feel it. We can feel disconnected and depleted: out of rhythm. Reiki works to support the body in restoring its natural balance, so you can come back to a place of ease and presence.
What Happens During a Session?
A Reiki session with me is a quiet, intentional experience designed entirely around you and what your body needs in that moment.
During an in-person session, you'll rest fully clothed on a comfortable surface while I place my hands lightly on or just above the body, following an intuitive flow of energy. There is nothing you need to do but simply be open and receptive. Please know that if you prefer no physical contact, a session can be adjusted accordingly.
During a distance session, the experience is the same in essence. You'll find a comfortable, quiet space at home, and at our agreed time, I'll begin channeling energy to you remotely. Many clients find distance sessions just as deeply relaxing and restorative as in-person because energy is not limited by physical space.
Each session is 40-60 minutes, guided entirely by what your body needs that day. No two sessions are ever exactly the same.
What is Distance Reiki and How Does it Work?
Distance Reiki can feel like a leap of faith if you've never experienced it, and that's completely understandable. The foundation of distance Reiki lies in the understanding that energy is not bound by time or space. Just as you can feel the warmth of the sun without touching it, Reiki energy can be directed and received across any distance.
Practitioners use specific Reiki symbols and intention to connect energetically with a client, no matter where they are in the world. Many people report feeling sensations of warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or emotional release during a distance session, all without being in the same room.
If you're new to distance Reiki, I always recommend finding a quiet, comfortable space, minimizing distractions, and approaching the session with an open mind and heart. That openness is often all it takes.
How Can Reiki Support You?
Reiki is not a medical treatment and does not diagnose or cure. What it does is create the conditions for your body to come back into balance, and from that place of balance, so much becomes possible. Women who receive regular Reiki often report: A greater sense of calm and ease in their bodies Reduced feelings of stress and overwhelm. Deeper, more restful sleep. A heightened sense of body awareness and intuition. Feeling more connected to their cycle and their natural rhythm. A greater capacity to move through the phases of their menstrual cycle with grace. When woven into a cyclical living practice, Reiki becomes a powerful tool for deepening your relationship with your body: phase by phase, month by month.
Is Reiki Right for You?
If you are a woman who is curious about your body, ready to slow down and listen, and open to exploring what it feels like to truly come home to yourself, Reiki may be exactly what you've been looking for. You don't need to have any prior experience with energy work. You don't need to hold any particular spiritual beliefs, as Reiki holds no religion. All you need is a willingness to receive. I'd love to support you.
